Women in power take centre stage at PropertyGuru Asia Real Estate Summit VIP Cocktail Party

BANGKOK, THAILAND, Dec 16, 2022 - (ACN Newswire via SEAPRWire.com) - PropertyGuru Group (NYSE: PGRU), ("PropertyGuru" or the "Company"), Southeast Asia's leading property technology company, launched its annual celebration of outstanding female leaders in the region at the PropertyGuru Asia Real Estate Summit (ARES) VIP Cocktail Party on 8 December 2022 in Bangkok, Thailand.Themed 'Celebrating Power Women in Real Estate', this exclusive gathering sponsored by PropertyGuru for Business stresses the importance of equality in real estate and tech, which was among the crucial themes discussed at ARES 2022 during its thought leadership summit themed 'Adaptive Reinvention'.While more diverse representation in real estate has improved, the lack of women in senior leadership roles is still apparent. A study conducted by Urban Land Institute's Women's Leadership Initiative in major Asia Pacific countries revealed that merely 37 percent of women are in top positions, while 50 percent identified how company policies, including maternity/familial leaves and flexible work hours, are critical to their success and advancement. PropertyGuru Group is committed to driving diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace and alongside their partners, "We are building for the future - a future that is more equitable, a future where more of us can have a fair shot at equal opportunities in life. Be it housing, job opportunities, community contribution, and more" said Ho Shyn Yee, Managing Director of Data and Software Solutions and executive sponsor of Women in Leadership at PropertyGuru Group. This year, ARES' focus on DEI is greater than ever, granting the stage to over 50 percent of women and members of the LGBTQ+ community. To showcase their valuable contributions to the industry, the ARES VIP Cocktail Party honoured four outstanding women leaders from across the region, such as Cyndy Tan Jarabata, the President of TAJARA Leisure & Hospitality Group, Inc. and the first female chairperson of the PropertyGuru Philippines Property Awards.Upon receiving the honour, she said: "There is still so much opportunity in the Philippine property sector and no limit to what we can achieve. We need to be consistent in creating value for our community and differentiate offerings in order to build better in today's built environment."Loemongga Haoemasan, the President Director at Asiana Group (Indonesia) and an esteemed speaker at this year's ARES, was also one of the honourees of the evening. With this recognition, she hopes that, "PropertyGuru's continued support to equality will open many doors and opportunities for other women in the industry and we can inspire others." Sarena Cheah, Managing Director of the Property Division at Sunway Berhad, who was also the Real Estate Personality of the Year recipient at the PropertyGuru Asia Awards Malaysia in 2020, echoes her sentiment, saying, "I hope that each of us continue to celebrate the Power in Women for many years to come as we pursue in creating positive influences to our homes, society, and nation, together."Suphin Mechuchep, the Chairperson at JLL Thailand and PropertyGuru Thailand Property Awards, expresses her gratitude for the honour, "When I chose to start my work life in real estate 30 years ago, I knew that I would have a great opportunity to develop my career path in this major sector that touches everyone's life. But I didn't expect to come this far. I feel very delighted and honoured to be named as one of the ARES Power Women."As a token, these inspiring women were given equally inspiring necklaces from Fugeelah. Established by Deborah Henry in 2017 with support from UNHCR & Rotary Malaysia, this women-led conscious jewellery brand has been at the forefront of educating, employing, and empowering refugee children and youth. The brand's main objective is to contribute to sustainably managing Fugee School, a non-profit organisation, so it can continue to offer free education and support for all refugees. Magali Du Parc Crosta, co-founder and senior strategic advisor at Baan Dek Foundation, as well as founder of Thai social enterprise Dao Ethical Gifts, was among the notable women present at the celebration. As an enterprise that empowers women in marginalised communities, through the establishment of Dao, Magali "envisions a world where vulnerable women are able to realise their childhood dreams, gain a newfound sense of ambition, and thrive in safer communities."PropertyGuru Asia Real Estate Summit (ARES 2022) is supported by official MICE partner Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB); official partner PropertyGuru for Business; official channel partners History and Lifetime; official magazine and podcast Property Report by PropertyGuru; official PR partner Artemis Associates; media partners d+a Magazine, Esquire PH, Hot Magazine, People Asia, REm Thailand, Southeast Asia Globe, The Grid, and Think of Living; official ESG partner Baan Dek Foundation; official charity partner Liter of Light; and supporting associations Green Building Consulting & Engineering, IFC - Building Resilience Index, IFC - Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies, and REHDA Institute. For more information, visit AsiaRealEstateSummit.com or email ares@propertyguru.com.PropertyGuru Group contacts:Speakers & Corporate:Richard Allan AquinoHead of Brand & Marketing ServicesTel: +66 92 954 4154Email: allan@propertyguru.com Sponsorships:Kanittha Srithongsuk Regional Manager of Awards SponsorshipTel: +66 87 708 5237Email: kanittha@propertyguru.com Copyright 2022 ACN Newswire. Md Mahbubur Rahman, Chairman of Bangladesh Power Development Board; Mr. Tatsuya Machida, (Deputy Chief of Mission), from the Japan Embassy and Osamu Ono, Managing Director, Chief Executive Officer, Mitsubishi Power Asia Pacific; amongst others. The event, attended by around 200 government representatives, industry leaders and local partners, includes dedicated user sessions and presentations by Mitsubishi Power's technical experts that deep dive into Mitsubishi Power's industry leading solutions and services - from decarbonization technologies such as hydrogen and ammonia co-firing, to enhancement of the reliability and performance of gas turbines.Md. Md Mahbubur Rahman, Chairman of Bangladesh Power Development Board; and Mr. Tatsuya Machida, (Deputy Chief of Mission), from the Japan Embassy - together with Osamu Ono, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mitsubishi Power Asia Pacific - graced the opening ceremony. The dignitaries gave speeches underscoring the importance of partnership across nations, sectors and industries to support Bangladesh's transition to cleaner energy while maintaining energy security, accessibility and affordability."Bangladesh was the first Asia Pacific country where Mitsubishi Power successfully delivered a steam turbine back in 1960. Since then, we have remained committed to our mandate and today, are responsible for approximately 20% of Bangladesh's total energy production. The country has immense potential for growth, fueled by progress in its power sector. Together with our valued partners and customers, we are committed to supporting Bangladesh in realizing its energy needs and achieving net zero emissions," said Osamu Ono, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mitsubishi Power Asia Pacific.During his speech at the opening ceremony, Md. Habibur Rahman shared that after achieving the target of 100% electricity supply across the country, their transitional goal is to ensure affordable, better quality and uninterrupted power supply to all. They hope that Mitsubishi Power will work with them in achieving the target of 40,000 megawatt power generation by 2030. Mr. Rahman also highlighted interest in hydrogen technology, citing Bangladesh's 'Mujib Climate Prosperity Plan' that seeks cleaner, renewable energy sources such as green hydrogen and blue hydrogen.Engr. Md Mahbubur Rahman stated that Mitsubishi Power has been partnering with the government of Bangladesh for more than two decades, helping the country in achieving long-term power supply. Bangladesh has started hydrogen-based power generation, which will play an important role in reducing carbon emissions. He expressed hopes that through this, Mitsubishi Power will play a special role in strengthening the partnership with the government towards achieving the country's energy needs and the goal of zero carbon emission.Mitsubishi Power's gas turbines support Bangladesh's power grid at five power plants across the country. Its M701F gas turbine was installed in Haripur as the first large-class gas turbine in Bangladesh and one of the most efficient and reliable in the country since 2014. A Focus on Content and the Consumer is the Key Driver for Growth and Sustainability in Asia ACN Newswire

A Focus on Content and the Consumer is the Key Driver for Growth and Sustainability in Asia

Singapore, Nov 7, 2022 - (ACN Newswire via SEAPRWire.com) - The annual marquee event of the Asian video industry, the Asia Video Summit, returned in full swing, hosting over 300 delegates in person and online as a hybrid conference, amidst a time of immense innovation and disruption in the video industry. The Summit opened with clear views from industry stalwarts, Henry Tan, Group CEO, Astro, Clement Schwebig, Chairman, Asia Video Industry Association (AVIA), and Vivek Couto, Executive Director, Media Partners Asia, that a return to profitability and a focus on revenue was much needed for sustained growth across Asia. Though Asia was a huge but diverse and difficult market, there was no doubt certain markets will continue to grow, said Couto. However, disruption was going to continue for the next few years, added Tan, and all players had to be prepared for a rollercoaster ride. James Gibbons, President & Managing Director, Western Pacific, Warner Bros. Discovery, also shared his views on the massive changes that the industry had gone through over the last decade. While there used to be a real emphasis on subscriber growth, and the belief that the market for subscription video-on-demand was infinite, a business without an advertising component was no longer meaningful. A wholesale reassessment of how to assess the growth and value of a company was now needed. And content was no longer an individual line of business, but represented an entire franchise opportunity that enabled businesses to build a special relationship with their consumers across all touchpoints. This focus on content certainly resonated through the Summit. For Donovan Chan, Founding Partner, Beach House Pictures, sticking to premium programming that was efficiently produced at a high quality to deliver on what the audiences want and need was a key part of his strategy to move more content from East to West. Kirana Cheewachuen, Deputy Director, Planning & Business Development, Strategic Content Group, True Corporation, also added that with Korea leading in script development, there was also a need to attract and develop the right talent in order to discover the secret sauce behind the success of Korean content, and hopefully replicate it in other parts of Asia. However, while content was king, it was not an 'either or' situation, it needed to be across content, activation, distribution, and pricing, said Manish Kalra, Chief Business Officer, ZEE5 India. Leading on to rebundling, Ricky Ow, Partner, Quest Ventures, also shared that it was not 'one size fits all' and that there was a need to meet personal consumer demand and at a price point that made sense. There was also the need to solve this problem as a benefit to consumers as well as content providers, for less churn and more sustainability. For Clarissa Tanoesoedibjo, Managing Director, Vision+, aggregation was the way moving forward, with more integration across the ecosystem. The topic of sustainability was certainly one that reiterated with the panellists this year as well. Chris Sewell, Founder, Net Zero Media, felt that more verifications and guidelines were needed around businesses to help people make informed decisions. Similarly, Esther Peh, Associate Director, Public Policy, Asia, Warner Bros. Discovery, also said that while there were industry wide tools to help take the first step towards being more conscious about your footprint and being more aware of the environmental impact, it was still very much at the nascent phase, and it was important for industry stakeholders and partners to come together. For Globe Telecom, Apple Evangelista, Head, Sustainability and Social Responsibility, while it was becoming a standard in the way they did business, there was also a need to reduce value chain emissions, both upstream and downstream, with the next step being customer education after greening the value chain. On the advertising front, stakeholders too needed to come together as there was certainly enormous opportunity for growth in the OTT advertising space, which was currently under-indexed in Asia. While OTT was the natural evolution of TV, Elaine Tan, Head of Sales, Southeast Asia, International Business Department - Advertising, iQIYI International, felt that OTT was not quite mainstream as yet and there was still a lot of room to grow in the premium space especially with premium Asian content. "If we bring the content that users want, the growth will follow," said Tan, with the advertising dollars following suit as well after. And though TV was evolving to OTT and Connected TV(CTV), for Alex Lowes, Vice President, Client Engagement and Growth, APAC, Finecast, the one commonality was that they were both addressable premium broadcast quality content. And with addressable TV becoming part of an omnichannel strategy, addressable TV was the future. However, a key challenge that still remained for Kanika Manglik, Regional Managing Partner, Investments Strategy, Mindshare, was the adoption of unified measurement.Despite these challenges, there was still much positivity among the panellists. Vignesh Narayanan, CEO, Airtel Ads, shared his prediction that US$200M was the addressable opportunity in India on the table over the next 2 years. Summing it up, Alysha Dino, Senior Director, Global Business Development, Publica, added that with 50% of viewers in Southeast Asia watching content online, this was a transforming time in the industry in Asia Pacific, to make these challenges into a good opportunity. The Asia Video Summit is proudly sponsored by Gold Sponsors Brightcove, BytePlus, INVIDI, PubMatic, Tencent Cloud, TV5MONDE, Silver Sponsors AsiaSat, Broadpeak, Dolby, Edgio, Gracenote, InvestHK, Irdeto, Magnite, MEASAT, Mirada, NAGRA, SES, Synamedia, YouTube.
